Palani Murugan, worshipped as Dhandayuthapani Swamy, is the presiding deity of Palani, the third of Lord Murugan's six sacred abodes (Arupadai Veedu). According to Hindu tradition, after the divine fruit contest with Lord Ganesha, Murugan renounced worldly desires and settled on the Palani Hills, teaching the profound truth that "Pazham Nee" ("You are the fruit of wisdom").
Unlike other forms of Murugan adorned with royal ornaments, Palani Murugan appears as an ascetic holding the sacred staff (Dhandam), symbolizing simplicity, self-realization, and spiritual knowledge.
This handcrafted bronze and brass Palani Murugan idol beautifully captures the serene expression and divine presence of Dhandayuthapani Swamy. Inspired by the ancient Palani temple and traditional South Indian craftsmanship, the sculpture reflects Tamil heritage and timeless devotion.
