Ayyappa Swamy Sculpture – Manikandan Statue, Ayyappa Swamy Sculpture and Dharma Sastha | 25W x 50H x 30D

Lord Ayyappan, also known as Manikandan, is a revered Hindu deity worshipped for his wisdom, discipline, and righteousness. According to Hindu tradition, he was born from the divine union of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu in the form of Mohini. He was found by King Rajashekara of Pandalam, who adopted him and raised him as a prince. Lord Ayyappan is remembered for his divine mission to protect dharma and establish peace.

According to Ayyappan traditions, Lord Ayyappan fulfilled his divine purpose by defeating Mahishi, a powerful demoness who threatened the world. His victory symbolized the triumph of good over evil and the restoration of dharma. After completing his mission, Lord Ayyappan is believed to have chosen Sabarimala as his sacred abode. Today, millions of devotees visit the Sabarimala temple to seek his blessings and follow his teachings of devotion, equality, and self-discipline.

The 48-day Ayyappan Vratham, traditionally observed by many devotees before the Sabarimala pilgrimage, is a period of spiritual preparation, self-control, and devotion. During these days, devotees commonly wear a black or blue mala, pray daily, practise celibacy, follow a simple vegetarian diet, and avoid alcohol and other habits considered incompatible with the vow. They focus on purity of thought, words, and actions while chanting Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa. The Vratham helps devotees prepare mentally and spiritually for the pilgrimage to Sabarimala, where Lord Ayyappan is worshipped as the symbol of discipline, unity, and devotion.
